FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your pearls real?
Yes. Every pearl we sell is a genuine cultured pearl — Japanese Akoya sea pearls or freshwater pearls. We never sell plastic or imitation pearls.

What is the difference between Akoya and freshwater pearls?
Akoya pearls are sea pearls from Japan, prized for their mirror-like luster and perfectly round shape. Freshwater pearls come in more shapes and colors (baroque, coin, rice) at a friendlier price. Both are real cultured pearls.

Will the metal tarnish or irritate my skin?
Our fine pieces are 18K solid gold or S925 sterling silver, both nickel-free and hypoallergenic. With normal wear they will not turn your skin green. See our Pearl & Jewelry Care guide below.

How do I choose a necklace length?
16" sits at the collarbone, 18" is the classic everyday length, 20"+ falls below the collarbone. If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up.

How should I care for my pearls?
• Put pearls on last, after perfume and cosmetics.
• Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
• Store separately in the pouch or box provided — pearls scratch easily.
• Keep away from water, pools, and harsh chemicals.
